JBI Bears After School

General Information

Johnny B’s Inc. offers a year round day camp program that is accredited by the American Camp Association. For information on accreditation through the ACA, click here. All of our staff members must complete a background check before hire, and hold current certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. Our staff are specially trained to lead and supervise a variety of games and activities in a safe manner, for school age children. Our staff to child ratio is 1:10, with an enrollment capacity of 60.

After School Daycamp Program

The after school program is available to families who have children that attend Vista Grande, Kumeyaay, and Tierrasanta Elementary. Children are picked up in a school bus and transported to the Tierrasanta Community Park. Staff members lead out door games and activities during this time. We offer a variety of games, sports and activities that help children develop social skills, foster friendships, and improve coordination and athletic ability.

A snack is provided daily, when the games and activities are completed. Afterwards, we transition to our indoor facility located at the nearby Tierrasanta Seventh Day Adventist Church. Our indoor facility has 2 rooms, one used for play time, the other for homework time. Children have access to the classroom for one hour of dedicated quiet time to focus on reading or homework, with help from a counselor if needed. Children who do not have homework have access to our playroom. We have many different activities that children may participate in such as, billiards, soccer, hockey, Foosball, board games, caroms, Lego’s, arts and crafts, and Nintendo Wii U. To play the Wii U children must participate in outdoor activities, finish homework and demonstrate appropriate behavior.

After School Program Hours of Operation

Our after school program begins the moment the bell rings. Our staff is in place at each school to meet campers as they arrive at our designated meeting place on school grounds. Kindergartners are signed out by a staff member accordingly. Our outdoor activities begin at approximately 2:30 pm, snack is at approximately 3:30 pm after which we transition into our indoor facility at 4:00 pm.

Johnny B’s closes at 6:15 pm. If your child has not been picked up by 6:15 pm a late fee of $5.00 (cash) for every 10 minutes is due and payable to the staff member at the time your child is picked up. If you are consistently late picking your child up from Johnny B’s your child may lose the space in our program.

After School Program Payment Policy

Payment for your child’s first week of attendance is due prior to their start date. Payment for the entire month is due by the 15th of each month. There will be a $25.00 late fee for monthly payments received after the 15th. If your payment has not been received by the 19th of the month, your child will not be picked up from school and will not be allowed to attend Johnny B’s Day Camp until the monthly payment and late fee have been paid in full.
